Geferssa ,Sululta and Debre-Libanose Bird Watching 3 Days & 2 Nights

Day 1 We drive to the Menagesha Forest via Sebeta, some 53 km southwest of Addis. In this small thick forest, we may see a few species like the Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird, Tropical Boubou, Ruppell’s Robin-chat, Wood Warbler, and the endemic Banded Barbet and Abyssinian Catbird. In the afternoon, we drive to Geferssa Reservoir where we do expect the Blue-winged Goose, Black-headed Siskin and Ortolan Bunting are among the species we are looking for. In the late afternoon, drive to Sululta; Overnight stay at Sululta Local Hotel or hotel in Addis Ababa .

Day 2 we drive to Debra-Libanose via the Sululta Plain. In the grassland of Sululta Plain, one can expect a variety of highland species like the Black-winged and Crowned Plovers, Red-throated and Grassland Pipits, and the endemic Abyssinian Longclaw and Black-headed Siskin. Then, we proceed to Debra-Libanose. The 13th century monastery is one of the best birding sites near Addis Ababa. The elegant Lammergeier, White-backed and Ruppell’s Griffin Vultures, Black or Verreaux’s Eagle, the endemic Abyssinian Woodpecker and White-billed Starling are some of the beautiful birds we hope to see in and around the monastery. In addition, the Gelada Baboon, one of Ethiopia’s endemic mammals inhabits this gorge. Overnight stay Ethio-German lodge, Debra Libanose or other hotel.

Day 3 Early start to Jemma valley for the rare and endemic Harwood’s Francolin and other specialties like Foxy Kestrel, Foxy cisticola, White-throated serein, and Abyssinian Black wheatear. Afternoon drive back to Addis Ababa
